Abstract

This study is derived from our doctoral dissertation titled "A Morphological and Phonological Study of the Divan of Halim Giray Sultan (Text and Lexicon Study)" and aims to examine the linguistic features of one of the prominent figures in Turkish literature.

The divan is a poetry book written in Ottoman Turkish, consisting of 64 pages, authored by a poet who lived at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. The section titled "Compound Verbs" in our study aims to highlight issues related to linguistic structure, the interaction of words, and the formation of layers of meaning.

Compound verbs are one of the grammatical structures of Turkish and represent a significant formation that reflects the dynamism and aesthetics of the language. The main objective is to analyze how these verbs are used and structured within the text.

This study aims to contribute to the linguistic analysis of historical texts and to the broader field of language studies within classical Turkish literature. Most of the verbs examined in this study are still in use today. The headings are organized according to the types of compound verbs identified in the divan.
