الملخص
تعد الدولة الرومانية من الدول القديمة و المعروفة في التاريخ القديم بالدولة التي كانت تتضمن الآف العبيد، ولاسيما في أواخر العصر الجمهوري وذلك بسبب حروبها و حملاتها الكثيرة، وأصبح في تلك الحقبة، مسألة العبيد الشغل الشاغل للمجتمع والدولة على حد سواء، درس هذا البحث أنواع العبيد و مكانتهم الإجتماعية فمنهم من يعمل في مؤسسات الدولة والأراضي والمزارع والمنازل ولذلك فإنهم كانوا يتعرضون للكثير من الحيف الاجتماعي فضلا عن القمع والحرمان،بالإضافة الى ذلك يناقش هذا البحث ايضا مسألة المكانة الإجتماعية للعبيد في المجتمع الروماني و الوضع الإجتماعي للمرأة والأطفال من العبيد،و من ناحية أخرى. تمت مناقشة الحالات الاجتماعية للعبيد من التركيبة الأسرية إلى مختلف مستويات البنية الاجتماعية ودورهم في هذا المجال.
