The Purpose of Children Literature between Entertainment and Didacticism: Latif Halmat's (Diwany Mndalan) as an Example

Abstract

This paper is entitled The Purpose of Children Literature between Entertainment and Didacticism: Latif Halmat's "Diwany Mndalan" as an Example. By means of putting the essential features of children literature in terms of style and content in dialogue with Latif Halmat's Diwany Mndalan, this paper showcases the significant role of children literature in pleasing and addressing children based on age groups.

The paper follows descriptive analysis method to reach its hypothesis. The selected literary text has been analyzed in the light of literary analysis and based on the text’s essential features of style and content. The paper concludes that Kurdish children literature in the hand of this author, by exposing its purposes and following the styles of addressing the aims has mixed both the entertaining and didactic features to reach the heart and the mind of Kurdish children.
