Styles and Characteristics of Aziz Gardi's Literary Translations

Abstract

Translation is one of the arts and ways in which cultures and literatures get to know each other. It is a human activity from ancient times to the present, used by people to build cultural, intellectual, literary and ethnic relationships with others. Throughout history, there have been a number of rules and principles. In contrast to these principles, many translators have their own characteristics. When a reader reads a translated book, he or she immediately recognizes it.

Aziz Gardi is known as the most prolific and greatest Kurdish translator. He has translated more than 100 books from different languages such as Persian, Arabic, French and English into Kurdish. Our research is entitled (Styles and Characteristics of Aziz Gardi's Literary Translations). To this end, our study consists of two parts. The first part is a theoretical part and works on the art of translation in terms of concepts and terms. Also, the importance of translation to introduce Kurdish literature and culture to the world and vice versa. The second part is a practical part. We will work on the characteristics that we believe exist in the translations of this great Kurdish translator.
