Overthinking and Relationships Psychological Distress among Unemployed University and College Graduates

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the degrees of overthinking and psychological distress among unemployed university and college graduates, as well as to identify the relational differences between overthinking and psychological distress, and to determine the predictive capacity of overthinking on psychological distress. This study used a quantitative descriptive methodology, which aligns with the research objectives. For measuring the variable’s, established measures were utilized: the measure by (Qasim, et al, 2022) for overthinking and Pearlin's measure (2011) for psychological distress. The research population consists of jobless graduates from universities and colleges in the Soran Independent Administration, with a sample of 400 graduates from both genders. After preparing the measures and collecting data, the information was processed using SPSS statistical software. The findings revealed that both overthinking and psychological distress were at high degrees among the research sample. Furthermore, a positive and direct relationship exists between overthinking and psychological distress, and overthinking exhibits predictive capacity for psychological distress. Based on these findings, the researchers presented several recommendations and suggestions
