Policy

The Book Writing and Translation Committee of Salahaddin University-Erbil places strong emphasis on upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and fairness in the publishing and translation process. To ensure this, all submitted works undergo a strict Plagiarism and AI Usage Policy. The combined level of plagiarism and AI-generated content must not exceed 25%, safeguarding the authenticity and scholarly value of the work. Any submission that records a percentage of 70% or higher in plagiarism or AI-generated material will be immediately rejected at the screening stage.

Authors and translators whose works fall above the acceptable limit but below the threshold of automatic rejection will be given up to three opportunities to revise and resubmit their manuscripts after addressing the identified issues. Alongside this, the committee has established clear regulations on rights and royalties to protect both the contributors and the university.

For the first edition of any published work, copyright and reproduction rights are shared equally, with 50% allocated to the university and 50% to the author or translator, reflecting the mutual role of both parties in the process of knowledge dissemination. For subsequent editions, however, the rights shift more favorably toward the creator, with 75% of reproduction rights granted to the author or translator, recognizing their continued intellectual contribution and ownership of the work.

These policies together ensure ethical standards, promote academic honesty, and encourage authors and translators to produce original, high-quality scholarly and cultural works.
