  1. Publication Guidelines

    1. Submission Regulations

    All manuscripts submitted to the Zanco Journal of Physical Education and Sport Sciences / Salahaddin University–Erbil must be original, valuable, and of high scientific quality. Manuscripts that have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere will not be considered. Any violation of these rules will result in immediate rejection without review.

    1. General Evaluation Procedures

    All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by qualified and trusted scientific reviewers. The editorial board meets every two months and conducts an initial screening of submitted papers. If the manuscript meets the scientific writing requirements, reviewers are assigned according to specialization.

    Each manuscript is reviewed by three reviewers. Decisions are made based on reviewers’ reports, and authors are informed accordingly. Reviewers are given a maximum of one month to complete the evaluation. Revised manuscripts are returned to the reviewers for final acceptance or rejection, along with justification in case of rejection.

    1. Authors’ Rights

    The Zanco Journal of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, affiliated with the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Salahaddin University–Erbil, ensures the protection of authors’ rights and all legal aspects related to publication. The journal places great emphasis on safeguarding intellectual property rights, whether related to authors’ own work or that of others. In cooperation with our colleagues, we adhere to the highest standards of ethics, responsibility, and applicable laws to ensure the integrity and quality of scientific work.

    1. Publication Ethics

    The journal is committed to ensuring transparency in the review process and adherence to ethical standards in scientific publishing. It takes misconduct such as plagiarism, falsification, or any legal violations very seriously. The editorial board strictly enforces policies against such practices.

    1. Plagiarism Policy
    • Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% will not be accepted. Authors must revise their work before submission if this threshold is exceeded.
    • Self-citation should not exceed 5% of the manuscript.
    1. Manuscript Structure Requirements

    Authors must include the following elements:

    • Title (Arabic and English)
    • Author name(s) (Arabic and English)
    • Affiliation (Arabic and English)
    • Email address
    • Abstract (Arabic and English)
    • Keywords (Arabic and English)
    • Introduction
    • Methodology
    • Results and Discussion
    • Conclusions and Recommendations
    • References
    1. Manuscript Formatting

    Note:

    The manuscript should not be written in a chapter format (e.g., Chapter 1, Chapter 2). Instead, a digital numbering system should be used.

    1. Page Setup
    • Language: Arabic or English
    • Paper size: A4
    • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
    • Do not use automatic heading numbering; numbering must be done manually
    • Sections must be clearly separated
    • Line spacing: Single
    1. Fonts and Abstract
    • Abstract must be written in both Arabic and English
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Title: size 10 (bold)
    • Text: size 10
    • Maximum length: 200 words

    Keywords:

    • Maximum of 5 keywords
    • Same font and size as the abstract
    1. Main Sections (Introduction and Others)
    • Font: Calibri
    • Title: size 12 (bold)
    • Text: size 12
    • Each paragraph must start with an indentation (Tab)
    • In Arabic, paragraphs should not begin with the conjunction “و”
    1. Tables and Figures
    • Maximum width: 15 cm
    • Must be in JPG format
    • Images must be clear and high quality
    • Font size inside tables: between 10 and 12
    • Avoid using Text Box and WordArt
    1. References
    • Must follow the Harvard referencing style (not footnotes)
    • Use the same font and size as the abstract
    • References must be listed alphabetically
    • A detailed Harvard referencing guide is available at the journal office
    1. Submission Process
    • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via: https://zancojournal.su.edu.krd/index.php/ZJPESS
    • File format: Word
    • Maximum length: 15 pages
    • The journal reserves the right to retain submitted manuscripts whether accepted or rejected
    • Accepted papers will be published in upcoming issues
    • Non-compliance with the guidelines will result in rejection
