The Effect of Using the Task-Based Learning (TBL) Strategy on The Academic Achievement in Science for Eighth-Grade Students

The aim of this research was to identify the effect of using Task-Based Learning (TBL) strategy on the cognitive achievement in science for eighth-grade students. The researcher adopted an experimental design with a sample of 50 students divided into an experimental group of 25 students who were taught using TBL and a control group of 25 students who were taught using the conventional method. An academic achievement test consisting of (30) items, distributed across levels of (remembering, understanding, and application), was used. The validity of the test was 85%, and its reliability was 0.783, confirmed through expert review and statistical analysis. After conducting the experiment and analyzing the data, the results showed significant differences in favor of the experimental group, with a large effect size of (Cohen's d = 0.829), indicating a positive impact of the TBL strategy on academic achievement. The researcher concluded that TBL strategy enhances learning outcomes, increases student engagement, and facilitates knowledge acquisition in scientific subjects for all students.
